In Summer of 2023, I traveled into remote areas of southern Madagascar with Stephanie Froebel. This portrait series aims to capture the loving Malagasy people we met and talked to throughout this trip. We met this man while stopping for lunch alongside the road, packing out our fuel canister and stove to cook lentils. When he was young, his family was wealthy, selling Zébu (Malagasy cows and a main stream of income for the nation), but he was left poor and homeless when they passed away. He now found work watching over cattle and enthusiastically shared his story with us. He insisted on posing with his chicken.
